Mediterranean Cruise from Boston on Holland America Line

Holland America offers a unique cruise from Boston to the Mediterranean in the autumn. The long "Atlantic Adventurer" cruise ends in Florida.

The cruise departs October 22 from Boston. The first stops are Newport (Rhode Island), New York, and Fort Lauderdale (Florida). From Florida the ship crosses the Atlantic Ocean. It visits Horta and Ponta Delgada in the Azores, which are islands in the Atlantic.

The next ports of call are in Spain, where you'll visit Malaga, Alicante, and enjoy an overnight stay in Barcelona. Barcelona is a world cultural capital where you can walk Las Ramblas and see the architectural works of Gaudi.

Livorno, Italy is the next stop, and is the jumping off point for excursions to Florence or Pisa. The cruise continues to Rome and Naples. From Naples you can visit Pompeii.

Greece is the next destination. The stops are Corfu, Olympia and Athens. All feature historic sites and excellent food.

The cruise turns back to the west to visit the island of Malta, which is located between Italy and Africa in the Mediterranean Sea. You'll have an overnight stay in beautiful Valletta and a stop at Mgarr.

Tunis on the coast of Tunisia in Africa is the next port of call. In Tunis, savor the sights and sounds of the market and explore the Bardo Museum. Next port is Cagliari on the large island of Sardinia, known for beautiful beaches and Roman historic sites. Then its on to Gibraltar, where you can take an aerial tram to the top of the Rock and see the Barbary apes. The final stop in Europe is Cadiz, Spain.

Casablanca, Morocco in Africa is a place known to everyone. Take an excursion to Rabat or Marrakech. On the return trip across the Atlantic, the ship stops at Funchal on the island of Madeira. It is famous for amazing gardens and bustling markets.

After 7 days at sea, the cruise makes one final stop at the private resort island of Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. The cruise ends at Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
